Body handling, body mechanic and rough body play
Level: All
Friday 15 September
12:00
Air Space
There’s so much more to an incredible rope scene than intricate patterns or difficult suspensions. Fred RX is a connoisseur of nasty, primal, rope experiences and has spent years finessing his capacity to manipulate a body through non-verbal communication and physical manipulation. Get ready to investigate the mechanics of the human body with intent to dominate through pressure points, structural weak spots, and ways to lock a body with itself. We will explore the idea of mental manipulation before, during, and after we have laid our rope. Hopefully with this class, you can begin to control your partner’s body with your body and let your rope be an extension of that dynamic. There will be conversation and opportunity to explore your own physical embodiment of confidence through posture, rope fluidity, new kinds of communication, and other subtle cues in play. This class will be best digested with an open mind and a curious imagination.

Hojo Hishi TK 3 in 1
Level: Intermediate
Friday 15 September
16:00
Air Space
In this class, you’ll learn the basic structure of a fully functional Hojo-inspired TK harness, along with an aesthetically enhanced variation. We’ll cover a harness that leaves the front of the chest fully exposed and accessible for torture and sensual play. We’ll then build through a hishi variation ending in a full diamond pattern, focusing on distributing pressure and maximizing sensation. Throughout the class, we’ll focus on the technical aspects of the tie, particularly those which are useful training for other hojo ties. We’ll also aim to combine a painful application of rope with deliberate and constructive technique, ending with a tortuous and aesthetically pleasing harness.

What does time, timing and pace mean when we do rope? How do we experience it and how can we play with it? In this exploratory class we will find what happens in ourselves when we do rope and start to take the passage of time into account. What happens when we are subjected to time and rope? How does pace matter to a tie? What do we see and feel when we give ourselves time?
II
Going Partial
Level: Partial Suspension Skills
Saturday 16 September
16:00
Earth Space
We will approach this workshop through the sense of sight and touch. What role does the eyes of us who hold the rope play and what does it mean to be seen in rope when combined with movement? By approaching partials through movement and shapes connected to our mutual desires instead of set ties and shapes we can find new ways of connecting with rope. This workshop will push you towards expanding what is possible to see and feel. Participants must be comfortable with one and two column ties, securing suspension lines, as well as being able to recognise the difference between circulation and nerve impingement communicate this.

Gote Shibari Variations
Level: Partial Suspension Skills
Friday 15 September
14:00
Air Space
Five/Seven options of gote shibari. We will fundamentally study different ways of creating a chest
harness. Moreover, we will discuss the basics of designing and using various patterns. All
the harnesses are suitable for suspensions as well. How many harnesses we will study will
depend on the knowledge level of the participants.

Beyond the Gote: Arms and Chest Harnesses
Level: Intermediate
Sunday 17 September
16:00
Earth Space
Several ways to tie the chest with hands in front, above or behind. These techniques are a
bit more extreme compared to the gote shibari, but they give partners new experience and
unusual sensations. Studied harnesses are suitable for suspensions as well.

Organic Aesthetics & Play
Level: Intermediate

One of the most interesting way to present a body inside rope is to twist it. A body
organized this way is also more difficult to stand. It means the model will have less
energy to spend on emotional control.
In this workshop we will aim to twist not only the model body but also the ropes and
even our building methods. It will also integrate a slow but constant evolution inside
the partner body. The aim is to push them to their limits and to make them discover
new sensations.
It is a very creative workshop inspired by the arts of Ikebana and Bonsai.
NB .’ At least 10 ropes are needed for this workshop.

Rope: a Way to Inspire Motion
Level: Intermediate
Saturday 16 September
12:00
Air Space
The most basic techniques of Japanese rope are associated with the idea of the
mental and physical management of the body in traditional Japanese arts. They open
up infinite possibilities for putting bodies into motion.
This workshop is a research space for bodies in motion, one body motion moving
another body motion.
Establishing physical connections is a building process for a specific language. Like a
dance, it can sometimes be erotic, otherwise sensual, or even raw. It leads novices to
new ways of reading their own bodies and other bodies, allowing sensations and
emotions to deepen.

Nina’s Hip Harness
Level: Intermediate
Friday 15 September
12:00
Earth Space
Nina’s hip harness is an extremely stable and versatile suspension tie.
She addresses the tendency of the more simple hip harnesses for the frictions to slip causing the leg loops to tighten and provides additional suspension points whilst still maintaining the Japanese aesthetic and structural integrity.
II
Suspension with a Full 360 Degree Transition
Level: Suspension Skills
Sunday 17 September
16:00
Air Space
Nina introduces an impressive suspension with a 360 degree transition which she developed for a performance. In the example, she will guide you through a step-by-step tutorial of the core suspension, which simplifies it and makes it more accessible to both riggers and models. As some people, especially those with bad backs, could find the intermediate bridge position difficult to maintain, you will learn how to minimise this and offer an alternative by moving rapidly to an inversion.
This tutorial builds on the skills taught earlier in the series and assumes you have practiced simple suspensions. As it incorporates Nina’s hip-harness as the main load-bearing component, you should already be fully competent with this tie and will find the other ‘ingredients’ very familiar from earlier tutorials. This means that it is surprisingly easy to learn and presents a low risk of nerve injury, whilst being extremely impressive, particularly when ‘accessorised’ by tying hair or adding further constriction.

Bonding through Bondage – Chains and Links
Level: All
Saturday 16 September
14:00
Air Space
Materials: chain (metal) and links (5)
Time frame: 4 hours
Part 1: Bonding with chain
I will go over the benefits of using chain:
– cool on the skin
– does not rope burn and marks related
– has a different aesthetic
– perfect for suspension
– faster to tie up and take off
Type of chain:
– metal is best
– other materials (plastic) can be used for aesthetics but not as secure
– you can buy chain at a local hard ware store
– good to test out the chain in the store before cutting (how heavy is it? how does it feel on the skin?)
Check out the chain that everyone brought and use a consensual victim as an example of different chaining methods.
Part 2: Use of chain
Let me chain you…
I will ask participants to do a visualization where they create a fantasy around tying someone with chains. Once they complete their vision, they will think of the props in the room they would like to use:
– chair
– pole
– table
– wall
– suspension?
Once they think about how they want to use chain in their scenario, they will share their fantasy. After this, we will talk about ways that you can tease with chain, snaking it on skin, unchaining only parts, playing with the sound of chain, chaining each other together etc.
Speed chaining
Once the participants state their fantasy, there will be participants that want to either chain, or be chained. Others may want both. We will divide up the participants based on the fantasy they would like to live out, and they will then have that person as their partner for the rest of the workshop.
There could also be stations for rotating:
– chair station
– pole station
– table station
– wall station
– etc.
If they rotate, then each participant will be able to try out chaining their partner(s) to each (as they wish). After everyone has had a chance to be chained, or practice chaining, then we will do a photo shoot of their different techniques. This can be used for exhibition. People who developed new bonds with those in the workshop may also decide to perform a scenario. This can be live with an audience, and/or videotaped from start to finish. It can also be a part of an event in which they can perform their chaining technique at a party.
